In one sentence
Splitnik splits trip costs between friends and family on iPhone: expenses and transfers in any currency, receipts read on the phone, who pays next, and the fewest paybacks to settle up.
In a paragraph
On a group trip one person pays for dinner, another for the rental car, a third for the museum, often in two or three currencies. Splitnik keeps the book: add the people with their weights (a child counts as half, a couple as two), add expenses as they happen or scan the receipt and tap who had what, and Splitnik shows everyone's balance and who should pay next. Every number can be traced back to the expenses behind it. At the end it lists the fewest paybacks that settle everyone, with a tolerance and rounding to cut them further. It's free and unlimited with no ads; Splitnik Premium, a one-time $3.99, shares a trip online with a code so the whole group can add to it, with notifications and downloaded exchange rates, and one purchase makes the trip Premium for everyone in it.
The name
Split + -nik: the one who splits. In 1959 "Splitnik" was also the nickname of the American model house at the Moscow exhibition, cut in half so visitors could walk through it.
